Open

Interoperable

As of 2018, most of the Bluetooth adopters developed their own proprietary Mesh on the top of Bluetooth, making it a closed trademarked network. In March 2018, at Light + Building, Frankfurt, BubblyNet presented as a world premiere, a Bluetooth Mesh solution, completely open to integration with other devices and brands which are Bluetooth Mesh Qualified.
Bluetooth Mesh is the first wireless lighting standard that guarantees interoperability between devices complying with the standard. (For a full list of Bluetooth Mesh Qualified products go to https://www.bluetooth.com/bluetooth-technology/topology-options/le-mesh/mesh-qualified/)

BLUETOOTH IS OPEN SOURCE

Bluetooth standards and models are developed by a growing community of thousands of developers generating a powerful momentum of innovation.

Reliable

A SYSTEM WITH NO SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE

A BubblyNet installation does not have a single device from which
all others depend for proper functioning.
A BubblyNet installation is based on distributed intelligence rather than a system with
centralized intelligence into one single device, which may fail.

The BubblyNet platform has a reliability that approximates, and in several cases even exceeds, the reliability of wired systems. It is a distributed architecture. This means that the “intelligence” of the system is distributed across devices and there is no single point of failure. It is a network that is inherently resilient (self-healing). Bluetooth is the mature and trusted technology that has become in the last 20 years THE standard for wireless communication.

Bluetooth Mesh can automatically update Over the Air. The devices and the network will keep improving over time as more and more functionalities are implemented.

Scalable

A SYSTEM THAT YOU CAN SCALE AS YOU GO

Since there is no central control “running out of channels,” adding sensors, switches or additional devices has never been so simple. As a matter of fact, the more devices on the project, the more robust the system becomes.

Easy to Deploy

NO CENTRAL CONTROL

Since there is no central control “running out of channels,” adding sensors, switches or additional devices has never been so simple. As a matter of fact, the more devices on the project, the more robust the system becomes.

Secure

A SECURE STAND ALONE SYSTEM

BubblyNet does not require a connection to WiFi or Internet and can be deployed 100% stand alone. There is no connection between your building system and your data system
so no intruder can use the lighting system to access the business information.

Bluetooth is the wireless standard for critical applications such as aerospace, automotive and manufacturing. The security protocols are mandatory and cannot be reduced, they include encryption and authentication. They keep security for network and each application separate. The system is protected from known attacks like brute-force, replay, man-in-the-middle, trashcan, visitor, and others. Nodes are provisioned using 256-bit elliptic curves and OOB authentication. Messages are secured using AES-CCM using 128-bit keys. There is Encryption and authentication at network and application layers. Devices can be blacklisted.

ioXt Certified

That means BubblyNet is part of an alliance of forward-thinking companies dedicated to making the world a more cybersafe place. The ioXt Alliance was created to provide verifiable security standards through an industry-led, multi-stakeholder process. The ioXt Certification Program provides a continuous assurance that industry agreed-upon security practices have been followed in the development of certified products.

Adaptable

A SOLUTION TO RF BARRIERS

A Hub has a limited Radio Frequency coverage that reduces in the presence of architectural barriers, such as concrete walls and metal structures. In this case, multiple hubs need to be wired together.

With a MESH architecture, the control signal is broadcasted and hops from device to device,
“going around” architectural barriers. It is also called a “Self Healing Network.” If one device fails,
the signal automatically re-routes bypassing the failed element.

Low Energy

Bluetooth Mesh keeps energy and power use low through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). For ten messages per day, Bluetooth generally uses 50 microwatts,5 while WiFi typically requires up to 500 microwatts. BubblyNet’s low power nodes, which employ BLE, use as little as 5 microwatts under typical conditions. In part, this difference in energy use is because WiFi systems are centralized and so signals must be powerful enough to reach every device, while Bluetooth Mesh networks instead relay messages between devices, allowing for individual messages to be very weak while still easily reaching the next node. Additionally, BLE devices frequently go on standby, markedly reducing energy spend.

FUTURE-PROOF

A BubblyNet installation is ready for what lies ahead.

BubblyNet App on iOS and Android can be set to automatically update anytime a new release is available.

BubblyNet hardware’s firmware can be updated over the air (DFU = Device Firmware Update) directly from the iOS app.

As most Bluetooth Mesh IoT devices can be battery operated or powered with low voltage, they can be added to an existing project quickly and easily, as monitoring and safety requirements change over time.

Because BubblyNet uses the Bluetooth Mesh open standard, BubblyNet components on an installed project can be replaced with similar Bluetooth Mesh products from other manufacturers, giving the customer maximum freedom.
